We urge you to unite with the United Way
Last week, the 2018 campaign by the United Way for Northeast Michigan got underway, and the goal for the campaign is impressive — $217,000.
The 2017 goal was $215,000 and, ultimately, $219,348 was raised to assist local public service agencies associated with United Way.
This year’s co-chairs, Steve and Alison Jakubcin, hope last year’s success rolls into this year’s donations, as well. When the campaign kicked off last week, a group of pacesetting businesses and their employees in the region already had pledged $36,565, or 20 percent of the overall goal. Certainly that was a good way to start the fundraising efforts.
In our estimation, the best thing about the United Way is the variety of people it serves via the funds, and different types of programs it helps make reality and needs it helps meet. From young infants to senior citizens, United Way agencies are there to serve. Whether you have an emergency need of clothing or food, or whether you are a youngster needing a safe place to turn to after school, United Way funding is there, helping.
Steve Jakubcin made note of the support and generosity of the community when it comes to United Way.
“When we unite, we can really have a huge impact on the community,” he said.
Yes we can.
This year’s campaign runs to the end of the year and we urge you to participate when asked.
