Salvation Army’s anonymous donor another example of NE Michigan’s giving spirit

Do you believe in Christmas miracles?

The folks at the Salvation Army do, as again this year another Christmas miracle occurred at red kettles around Alpena.

An anonymous donor left $2,500 in $100 bills scattered in red kettles around the community Dec. 7.

“It was such a blessing to know someone out there has such a generous heart,” Capt. Amy Cedervall said. “I’m often blessed by the way people will come together to meet the needs of others. I hope this person understands just how much we appreciate their gift.”

We suspect they do.

Time after time, cause after cause, area residents display their generosity toward others in so many different ways. It is heart warming that at this time of year residents have been so supportive and generous in their giving.

Whether it is a quarter from a little child’s allowance, or $2,500 in large bills, each and every donation that comes from the heart is just as special, and just as important.

We are proud of the philanthropic spirit that exists here, and it is truly is one of the many blessings of why this area is “home” for all of us.
