Big hearts and warm students

People’s hearts seem bigger this time of year.

For evidence of that, look no further than Rogers City, where firefighters gathered Monday and raised funds to purchase cold weather clothing for local school children.

At the end of the night, $3,172 was raised at Scill’s Grill as part of the “Stomp Out the Cold” fundraiser. Rogers City Area firefighters teamed up with the restaurant and served tables, cleaned tables and did the dishes. In addition to having a good time visiting with local residents, all the money raised in tips went to a great cause – keeping students warm this winter.

The money raised now will be used to purchase coats, hats, gloves and snow gear.

Because of the generosity displayed in Rogers City Monday, a number of children will be much warmer when heading outside this winter.

Thanks to everyone who had a part in making this wonderful dream a reality.
