Washington needs a new way to deal with North Korea

North Korea’s new test of medium-range missiles a few days ago puts an exclamation point on the major foreign policy challenge facing President Donald Trump.

For decades, presidents, secretaries of state and defense, and members of Congress have searched for a way to curb North Korea’s military buildup. The result? Pyongyang now has nuclear devices and missiles to carry them. And they are controlled by a dictator more bloodthirsty and belligerent than his father and grandfather, who ruled before him.

Clearly, all bets need to be off regarding North Korea. Something new and entirely different in the way of policy is needed — and soon.
