WILLIAM ROGER FARNUM

William Roger Farnum, 77, of Alpena passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019, at his home.

William was born May 26, 1941 in Pontiac, Mich., to the late Harland and Pearl (Dove) Farnum. He served eight years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and 12 years in the Army National Guard. William worked at Presque Isle Corp., retiring in 2001. On April 6, 1968, he married Hazel Spigelmyre. William was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, D.A.V., and Aircraft Crewman’s Association. He enjoyed spending time at Camper’s Cove.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel; two children, Melissa (Patrick) Anderson, Shawn Farnum; five grandchildren, Kirsten Turske, Kyle Farnum, Mason Farnum, Madison Farnum, Emma Farnum; and sister-in-law, Janet Farnum. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harland “Fritz” Farnum.

Memorial visitation will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at noon with The Very Reverend William J. McClure Jr. officiating followed by military honors accorded him by Alpena VFW Post 2496. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
