SAMUEL FREESE

Samuel Lee Freese, 64, of Alpena died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday June 17, 2018. Sam was born on Dec. 5, 1953, in Alpena, Mich., to Jack and Gloria (Montie) Freese. Throughout his life, Sam loved and accomplished many things. He enjoyed almost everything outdoors including, hunting, fishing, and he even dabbled a bit with small engine repair as a hobby. The greatest accomplishment, and what Sam truly loved, was gardening. In fact, he built, planted, and maintained probably the most known garden in all of Alpena. At the corner of Third Ave. and Ripley, many stopped and stared and even purchased some of what he had to offer from his garden. Through countless hours and hard work Sam took great pride in a garden that was not only beautiful but produced high quality vegetables.

Sam is survived by two sons, Christopher (Kara Kenworthy) Freese of Alpena and Grant (Julie) Freese of Presque Isle, and four grandchildren, Justin, Becca, Lily, and Rozlyn.

A graveside service will take place on Friday July 6, 2018, at 9 a.m. at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Maple Ridge township with Rev. Scott Pfeiffer officating. McWilliams Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Please visit www.mcwilliamsfh.com where online condolences may be registered.
