Gertrude Brousseau, age 89, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena. Gert was born Jan. 17, 1929, in Maple Ridge Township to the late Edward and Gertrude (Melville) Brousseau. She graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1947 and worked at Alpena Wholesale Grocery and People State Bank, retiring from NBD as branch manager of the M-32 office in 1989. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, volunteer work and especially trips to the casino. She was a past member of St. Bernard Altar Society. Surviving are her sisters, Mary Ann and Joan; and several cousins. Gertrude was preceded in death by her sister, Rose. A special thanks to the Kennedy family, Phyllis Kuchnicki, and Vanessa Flewelling. Thanks also to Hospice of Michigan and staff at MidMichigan Medical Center. Visitation will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday at St. Bernard Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery Memorials: St. Bernard Capital Improvement Fund, All Saints School or Hospice of Michigan.
