CLAUDE EVERET BAUER

Claude Everet Bauer, 97, of Alpena, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at The Country Home.

Claude was born Dec. 17, 1920 in Alpena to the late Jacob and Myrtle (Clark) Bauer. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 with his father’s permission and served during World War II. Claude was a hard worker who held multiple positions often at the same time. He owned and operated B&B Sales and Services for many years and later sold realty for numerous years. Claude was one of the founding members of the Alcoholics Anonymous in Alpena, something he was very proud of as he was a recovering alcoholic for over 60 years. Claude leaves behind five children, Nancy Kowalski of Alpena, David (Cheryl) Bauer of Alpena, Kenneth (Darla) Bauer of St. Peters, Mo., Anthony (Brenda) Bauer of Midland, Mich., Andrew (Kerri) Bauer of Alpena; 12 grandchildren, Raymond, Daniel, Lauren, Jacob, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Cody, Brittany, Clay, Mason, Keegan; a great-grandson, Blake; and his former wife and companion, Marie. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter Tabitha and six siblings. Claude will be creamated. A memorial service will be held this summer and will be announced in The News upon confirmation of a date. McWilliams Funeral Home has been entrusted with Claude’s care.
