Marilyn (Calcutt) VanWormer, age 68, passed away Nov. 26, 2017, at Legacy House (Hospice) in Ocala, Fla. She fought hard but pancreatic cancer won. Marilyn was born March 22, 1949, to Ralph (Sonny) Calcutt and Geraldine (Sniecinski) Calcutt in Bay City, Mich. She graduated from Bay City Central in 1967. She married her husband George VanWormer, from Alpena, on April 27, 1968. She loved doing her flowers, she had a green thumb. Marilyn was involved with many organizations; American Legion Baseball, Huron Shores Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, Alpena Hockey Association, Special Olympics, St. Mary’s School Board President, National MS Society and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was proudest of her Girl Scouts, they grew up to be fine young ladies and several of them are professionals today. Marilyn is survived by her husband George; her sons, Scott, Reed and Ryan VanWormer, all from Auburn Hills, Mich.; as well as her self-adopted son, Scott Calcutt of Casa Grande, Ariz.; grandchildren, Alexis and Conner of Auburn Hills, Mich.; her mother, Geri Calcutt of Bay City, Mich.; her four brothers, Ron Calcutt (Philippines), Chuck (Linda) Calcutt, Jim (Kim) Calcutt of Bay City, Mich., and Rascal (Deb) Calcutt of Lakeview, Mich. She was preceded in death by her father Ralph (Sonny) Calcutt. Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home Davis Chapel in Auburn Hills, Mich. Interment at Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills, Mich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County of Florida.
