Leonard Marcotte, 94, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at home.
Leonard was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Alpena to the late Ernest and Eliza (Hayes) Marcotte. His entire life was in Alpena except when enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor attaining the rank of Aviation Machinist, Second Class. While stationed in Jacksonville, Fla., he married Jessie Mae White of Hazelhurst, Ga. They were married 65 years. Jessie passed away Oct. 8, 2009. They had one son, Joe Marcotte, also preceding him in death. Leonard worked at Huron Portland Cement for 36 years as a brick layer, retiring in 1986.
Leonard leaves behind a very special care person and companion, Betty Bedford; Betty’s children Kenda and Randy Yochum and Vicki Cripps. Also surviving are his grandson, Joe Marcotte, Jr.
Visitation will take place at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating. Full military honors accorded him by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496 at 10:30 a.m. Funeral arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
