DELMAR ARTHUR HOPP

Delmar Arthur Hopp, 88, of Alpena passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at Beaumont Hospital in Troy.

Delmar was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Rogers City to the late Arthur and Emma (Mertz) Hopp. On Nov. 6, 1954, he married Ada Opel. Delmar served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church having served on the Board of Stewardship and past member of Zion Lutheran in Detroit having served as chairman of the congregation for many years. Delmar and Ada enjoyed their retirement home on Long Lake in Alpena where Delmar enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, dances, playing cards, and collecting coins. He was also involved in the German club and several church activities.

Surviving are his wife, Ada; four children, Sharon (Jim) Falzon, Douglas (Janet Lange) Hopp, Gregory Hopp, Jennifer Hopp; two grandchildren, Nicholas (Ahna) Falzon, Jaclyn Falzon; one great-granddaughter, Adelaide; four siblings, Harold Hopp, Marvin (Ellen) Hopp, Darlene (Roy) Sommerfield, Linda (Wayne) Schalk; brother-in-law, Jerry (Kathy) Sorgenfrie; and several nephews and nieces.

Mr. Hopp was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Stephenson; and sister, Betty Sorgenfrie.

Mr. Hopp is at the Bannan Funeral Home where visitation will take place on Friday from 2-8 p.m. with military honors accorded him by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496 at 5 p.m. and prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joshua Schultz officiating.

Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery, Westland, Mich.
