Willis Roy Wirgau, age 91 of Rogers City, passed away Oct. 19, 2017 peacefully at home.

He was born April 9, 1926 in Belknap Township to Paul and Florence (Bredow) Wirgau.

On July 26, 1947 he married Lucille Grulke at St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working to support his family. He did excellent masonry work and donated many hours to St. John church and school. He retired from the Calcite plant in 1987 after 38 years of service.

Mr. Wirgau is survived by five sons, Larry (Kristina) of Galesburg, Richard (Debra Shay) of Rogers City, Johnathan (Barbara) of Posen, Kevin (Debbie) of Plainwell, and Brock (Sheri Dillon) of Kalamazoo; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille on April 10, 1999; daughter, Lisa; granddaughter, Shannon; four brothers, Wilmar, Merlin, Norval and Alvis; and a sister, Mildred Newhouse.

Friends may visit at St. John Lutheran Church on Monday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. through time of his funeral at 11 a.m. with Pastor Eric Voigt officiating.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran School or Hospice of the Sunrise Shore in memory of Willis Wirgau.
