David Wayne Carter, 56, of Alpena, passed away at home Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, surrounded by his family. Dave was born Feb. 10, 1961, in Petoskey to Harry and Leola (Scott) Carter. Dave was first and foremost a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated person in everything he did and his work spoke for itself as excellence was always attached to his name. Dave loved camping and being outdoors in general. He also loved his cat Buster who was always at his side right up to the very end. Dave will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He is survived by his wife, Marcia; his daughter, Jennie (Josh) Handrich; his mother, Leola (Ken) Barker; three grandchildren, Josiah, Avery Jayne, Caden Handrich; three siblings, Kim (Andy) Baker, Karen (Ivan) Brooks, Guy Carter; his mother and father in-law, Don and Jean Gosselin; and his brother and sisters in-law, Joann and Joe Hawley, Laura Boyle, and Don and Stephanie Gosselin. Dave is preceded in death by his father Harry. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Huron Shores Fellowship from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jack Williams officiating.
