ELMER ARTHUR KUBBE

Elmer Arthur Kubbe, 92, of Spruce passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

Elmer was born in Ossineke Twp. on Sept. 30, 1924, to the late Reinhold and Anna (Winehause) Kubbe. He served in the South Pacific and Asian Pacific for the United States Army during WWII. On July 19, 1947, he married Marion E. Bates. She preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2000. Elmer was a member of the Spruce Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, Alpena Hopper Lodge 199, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, Ossineke VFW Post, the Masons, Ausable Valley Engine and Tractor Club and a charter member of Alcona Classic Tractor and Engine Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen (James) Hawkins, Valerie Kubbe; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry (Esther) Kubbe, Norman (Lorraine) Kubbe; special friend, Irene Chroniger; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kubbe was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Kubbe, Kenneth, Kubbe; brother, Julius Kubbe and sister, Lucille Murray.

Mr. Kubbe is at the Bannan Funeral Home where visitation will take place on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. Military honors will be accorded him by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496 at 5 p.m. and a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. followed by an Eastern Star Service. The funeral service will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Karen Thompson officiating.
