EDWARD G. ROBIN

Edward G. Robin, 77, of Alpena, died Monday, July 24, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.

Ed was born Sept. 3, 1939, in Howell, Mich., to Edward J. and Georgine (Cronin) Robin. He married Peggy Smith on Sept. 2, 1961, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Rogers City. Ed enjoyed working for the Saginaw News as well as The Alpena News as the Advertising Director, but nothing made him prouder than Robin Services — the company he started that found work for the mentally disabled. Ed enjoyed fishing, spending time at camp (though he didn’t actually hunt), and spending time on the lake. He eventually made the lake his fulltime residence in 1990. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and president of both the Michigan Jaycees Chapter as well as the Alpena Exchange Club.

Ed is survived by his wife, Peggy; his three children, Rebecca (Robert) Pearsall of Florida, Ann (Scott) Peplinski of Michigan, Amy (Steven) Brown of Texas; four grandchildren, Jacob, Craig, and Hannah Peplinski, Isabel Robin; three siblings, Margaret Ellen (Dave) Florip, William (Karen) Robin, Rita (Floyd) Risner; daughter in-law, Shannon Robin; and mother in-law, Martha Smith. He is preceded in death by his son Steve, and his sister, Carol Horning.

Ed is at McWilliams Funeral where visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 3-8 p.m., and will resume on Friday, July 28, 2017, at Alpena Catholic Community St. Anne Parish from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m.
