Robert Michael Meyer of Laurel, Md., died suddenly at 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday, 4 April 2017, at Laurel Regional Hospital. He was born on 6 January 1950 in Alpena, Mich., to Willliam Ludwig Meyer Sr. and Virginia (Covey) Meyer. Bob graduated from Alpena High School in 1968 and spent two years of study at Alpena Community College before voluntarily enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served in Thailand during the Viet Nam War in Germany and at various other posts during his military career. He retired as a Master Sergeant after honorably serving his country for 20 years.

Mr. Meyer is survived by his sons, Nicholas (Imelda) Meyer and Rodney (Kimberly) Meyer; his grandchildren, Krissyanna, Corwin, Xavier and Julian Meyer; his step-grandchildren, Ronald Jay (also know as RJ) Romero and Pepit (also know as Peter) Romero. He is also survived by his other family, William (Billy) Miller, JoMarie Morales, Tracey Miller, Joseph Tayman and his fur-baby “Pup Pup.” Also surviving are his brothers, Ronald (LeiAnne), Randal (Lisa), Michael (Teresa) and Kurt (Matt), his uncle Robert Meyer and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Meyer was pre-deceased by his parents, William Sr. and Virginia, his wife JoAnn and his brothers, William L. Meyer Jr. and Rick Meyer.

Cremation was performed by Simplicity Cremation and Funeral Services of Glen Burnie, Md., and a memorial service was held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, 15 April 2017, at the home of Tracey Miller.

Contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in memory of Robert Meyer who was a VFW member at some time in the past.
