Marilyn Mockenhaupt, 85, quietly slipped from our lives on Friday, April 21, 2017. She was born Marilyn Arlene Griffith on Dec. 30, 1931, to Robert and Henrietta (Donald) Griffith. She grew up in the Posen and Long Rapids communities. On June 24,1950, she married John Bussey in Herron, Michigan. She later married John Mockenhaupt on Feb. 18, 1995, in Arizona. She has made her home in Herron and Alpena Mich., Georgia and Arizona.
She is survived by two sons, Larry (Connie) Bussey of Alpena and Russell Bussey of Eatonton, Ga.; five daughters, Trudy Mousseau of Alpena, Gloria (Randy) Barroza of Mesa Ariz., Lenae Bussey and Janelle (Randy) Ives both of Fitzgerald, Ga., and Faye (Jeff) Morcom of Phoenix, Ariz. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and an extended “step” family.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Mockenhaupt, son Robert Bussey, grandson Andy Bussey, former husband John Bussey, brother Donald Griffith, sisters Irene Cole and Donabelle Fodor McGriff.
Her cremains will be buried with her parents at Long Rapids Cemetery, as well as locations in Arizona and Georgia where her family will hold memorial services. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
