LOUIS KAISER

Louis “Louie” Kaiser, 97, of Alpena and Apache Junction, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Aurora Place Care Home.

Louie was born on Oct. 14, 1919, to the late John and Edna (St. Charles) Kaiser in Alpena, Mich. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Rea on Oct. 13, 1942. Betty preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 1990. Louie married Marie Adams on March 14, 1994. Marie preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 2008. Helen Beaudoin, a very dear friend, also preceded him in death.

Louie served in the United States Army. He worked for General Telephone and Electronics for 41 years retiring in 1982. Since his retirement, Louie has enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona playing poker, 66, euchre, and cribbage.

Louie was a long-time member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was past President of Eagles Aerie #1825 (Gaylord), a member of Eagles Aerie #1241, American Legion Post #65, Moose Lodge #571, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local #1106, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council #485 and a life time member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #61.

Louie is survived by his children, Mick (Carol) Kaiser of Alpena, Karen (David) Stepaniak of Alpena and Apache Junction, Ariz., K. Kim (Karen) Kaiser of Ashburn, Va.; grandchildren, Danielle Kaiser of Lansing, Brian Kaiser of Geneva, Switzerland, Jason (Rebecca) Kaiser of Chicago; great-grandchild Maxwell Kaiser of Chicago; brothers, Clare (Gerry) Kaiser, Francis (Doris) Kaiser; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Don and Robert; four sisters, Agnes (Archie) Anderson, Louise (George) Lewis, Theresa (Orville) Hanner, and Adeline Kaiser.

Mr. Kaiser is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. with the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus standing guard from 6-8 p.m. Military honors will be accorded him by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496 at 5 p.m., followed by a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at St. Bernard Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating.
