ROGER JAMES CLEMENTS

Roger James Clements (86) of 423 S. Addison, Alpena, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at home. He was born on the family farm at Platteville Wis., to James Wilbert and Martha C. Clements on Sept. 12, 1930. He is survived by children: James A. Clements of Eastlake, Mich., Theresa J. Clements of Garland, Texas, Stephen D. Clements of Vanderbilt, Mich., Christina M. Lewis (Greg) of Pacific Palisades, Calif., Mark R. Clements (Jane) of Grand Rapids, Mich., John D. Clements (Lori) of Alpena, Mich., and, Melanie A. Marshall (Mark) of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. His wife, Joan Marie and a daughter, Ann Marie Clements preceded him in death.

With his wife, Joan, Roger was founder and owner of Clements Water Refining Service. An avid snowmobiler, he and Joan were former members of the Alpena Snow Drifters Club, longtime supporters of the Alpena Plaza Pool and after selling his business, spent many winters “snowbirding” along the Texas Gulf coast. Roger was also a past exalted ruler of Alpena Elks Club, 60-year member of the Knights of Columbus, longtime member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, lifetime NRA member, Ossineke Eagles Club, American Legion, Green Bay Packer Shareholder, and many other organizations and affiliations. He was an avid euchre player, often enjoying as many as six tournaments a week.

Visitation will be held at McWilliams Funeral Home, 504 Washington Ave. on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 3 to 8 p.m. A Catholic funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard’s Church at 322 Chisholm Street Friday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m.
