Huron Shores hires new pastor

Huron Shores Fellowship in Alpena has welcomed Alpena native Warren J. Hoffman as its new pastor, the church said in a news release.

Hoffman has 38 years of experience and has served congregations in Canada, New York, and St. Louis, Mo., the church said. He became head of staff at First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, S.D. in September 2013.

Hoffman graduated from Alpena High School in 1973 and studied at the University of South Dakota, North American Baptist Seminary, and Princeton Theological Seminary. He earned his doctorate at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Preaching and Worship.

His wife, Laura, is a hospice chaplain for Daugherty Hospice and is also a CPE Supervisor Candidate.

At 10:45 a.m. Oct. 28, Hoffman will give his first official sermon at Huron Shores and the community is welcome to attend at the church, 3558 M-32 W.
