POSEN –Miss Posen 2018 is Faith Romel, crowned Friday night at the 52nd Annual Miss Posen Pageant.

She focused on strength and positivity in the question and speech portions of the competition.

Romel is the daughter of Mandy and Eric Hackney. She plays basketball, softball, and volleyball, and is part of National Honor Society, Pep Club, Trip Club, and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). She also volunteers as an umpire for youth baseball and softball, and enjoys cosmetology, weight lifting and writing.

She said weight lifting gives her strength inside and out, and that writing gives her a creative outlet for her emotions. She hopes to serve as a strong role model during her reign as Miss Posen, and she is grateful for the honor.

During the question portion of the pageant, Emcee Randy Idalski asked, “If you had to delete an app on your phone, which one would it be, and why?” Romel responded that she would delete Facebook “because there is so much negativity on there, and we need to find ways to build each other up, not tear each other down.”

In her speech, Romel talked about how her mother had a stroke in January, and how her family used that opportunity to grow stronger together.

“We definitely grew as a family,” she said, adding that winning the pageant means a lot to her.

Romel said she was filled with joy when she heard her name being announced as Miss Posen.

“Being strong gets you places,” Romel said.

Hannah Stone was named first runner-up. Riley Krajniak and Anissa Eagling rounded out the competition.

Romel won the Poise and Appearance award, Stone won the Coordination and Fitness award, and Eagling won both the Congeniality and Speech awards.
