No break in temps in near future

ALPENA — Warmer spring weather will continue to take some time to arrive to Northeast Michigan, according to the National Weather Service.

“Next week the upcoming week looks a little better for us as far as somewhat warmer temperatures. It will stay in the 30s through the weekend, and get in the 40s Monday into Tuesday. It will be in the mid 40s Wednesday and cool off toward Friday,” NWS meteorologist Jeff Voltowski said.

During Easter weekend there’s another chance for cool weather.

“It indicates cooler than normal temperatures into Easter weekend and looks like a return of some chilliness,” he said.

When it comes to precipitation there is some rain on the way.

“There is some rain on the way for Alpena,” he said. “It could get going late Monday night and during the day on Tuesday. Periods of rain on Tuesday, rain showers into Tuesday night. At least a period of steady rain on Tuesday. Then the next chance of precipitation is Friday. There is a chance of rain or snow. It’s hard to say at this point if there would be accumulation for snow.”

He said the temperature has been a bit cooler than normal for this time of year.

“We’ve been running a little cooler than normal, not drastically so. Our normal highs is 40 or 41. It’s northern Michigan in March so it takes a little while for spring to come,” he said.
