Rogers City’s O’Bryant leaving for position in Farwell

ROGERS CITY — Rogers City Area Schools Superintendent Dave O’Bryant is leaving the district and begins his new job Wednesday.

O’Bryant has accepted the superintendent position at Farwell Area Schools. He accepted the contract Monday.

O’Bryant said he left the position with Rogers City because of a strained relationship with the school board.

He began his career as a teacher in 2004 at Inland Lakes High School and was laid off due to budget constraints. In 2010 he began as a teacher at Rogers City High School and Middle School. He then became high school principal in 2011 and then superintendent in 2016.

“I will miss the staff and students,” O’Bryant said.

He said he looks forward to more stability for the district and his family.

Prior to O’Bryant’s time as superintendent, Lee Sandy served the district as an interim superintendent 2015-16.

There will be a discussion of an interim superintendent at an executive committee of the board of education at 5 p.m. Monday in the conference room. Later in the evening at 6:30 p.m. there will be a school board workshop in the high school library.
