Area residents are reminded to support Northeast Michigan nonprofits by making a donation today on Giving Tuesday through the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan website, www.cfnem.org. Donations can be made online at any point during the 24-hour period that began at 12 a.m.

More than 50 area organizations are listed at the site. In 2016, more than $41,000 was raised to help local nonprofits continue their services in the four-county region of Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency and Presque Isle counties.

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving now in its sixth year. In the United States, it follows the widely recognized shopping events, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.
