Damage done to trailer home
ALPENA — Extensive damage to a trailer home was done Tuesday after it caught on fire.
“We got called to smoke from a trailer. Upon arrival smoke was showing from the windows,” said Alpena Township Capt. Ken Piper.
He said the residents of the home left before the fire started, only to come home to the smoke.
He said the fire was in the hallway of the home. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but he does not consider the fire suspicious.
“No one was hurt or injured in the fire. But family pets did die,” he said.
Both Alpena Township northside and southside departments reported to the scene as well as Michigan State Police.
“The fire did not breach the roof. Even though the fire was small it doesn’t take a ton to destroy a smaller home,” he said.
