Christmas party with Santa at Brush Creek Mill on Saturday

HILLMAN — Children are invited to the 2017 Christmas Party with Santa on Saturday at Brush Creek Mill. The event is from 10-11:30 a.m. and is free for any school age children and younger.

“Our golf outing that we held in the summer helps fund this event,” Jim Dunn, director of operations at Brush Creek Mill, said. “The golf outing helped support different children’s events that we hold. This event is for the children and for them to have fun.”

Santa will be at the party and children can visit with him and take a photo with him for free. Dunn said they will print the photos for children and parents to have.

Children can play games like Bingo throughout the party and decorate Christmas cookies.

“The children are also going to be getting goody bags while at the party,” Dunn said.

Dunn said invitations for the Christmas party were given to students at Hillman, Atlanta, and Lewiston schools.

“There is also going to be a book giveaway,” Dunn said. “We have between $500 to $600 worth of books to give away to the children.”

The party usually gets around 130 children, but Dunn said organizers are expecting more than that since the weather is going to be better.

The Christmas party starts off the month of different Christmas events at the mill. On Sunday, there will be a commemorative tree lighting at 2 p.m. Green, red, and gold bulbs will be used to honor those living or dead from the military. Dunn said there will be a ceremony where the names of those will be read.

On Dec. 15, the monthly Music at the Mill event, People’s Choice Tree Award winners will be announced. Trees by different organizations and individuals are set up in front of the mill where people can vote.
