Alpena woman, 47, jailed and faces larceny charge after arrested
A 47-year-old Alpena woman was arrested by troopers from the Michigan State Police Alpena Post and lodged in the Alpena County Jail after an incident at Mandarin Gardens Restaurant on Tuesday.
Law enforcement was called to Mandarin Gardens on the report of an unarmed robbery at approximately 3:30 p.m. An employee had taken a cell phone photo of the suspect’s vehicle as she left the scene. In addition, the suspect had just completed an employment application at the restaurant.
During the investigation, law enforcement found that the woman had taken money out of the register and was confronted by employees.
The woman was located at her residence by Alpena Police Department officers and deputies from the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office. MSP took the woman into custody. The money was recovered and returned to Mandarin Gardens.
The woman faces a felony charge of larceny in a building. Though it was reported to Alpena Central Dispatch as an unarmed robbery, it was determined that the circumstances did not meet the statutory requirement for an unarmed robbery charge.
