Lincoln Lions Car Show to add other vintage offerings

LINCOLN — Attendees to the 19th annual Lincoln Lions Antique and Classic Car Show and More may see some different vehicles for the event this year, according to organizer Chris Scully.

“We added ‘more’ on it because we have changed a little bit of our setup,” he said. “We”re doing it at the Lincoln Fire Department Hall and at the park this year and encouraging people to bring antique snowmobiles, arts and crafts to set up, antiques tractors, and other items.”

Scully said the usual registration fee will be waived this year for people who bring snowmobiles or other items other than cars for the show, which will take place in Lincoln Aug. 26.

On Aug. 25 there will be a parking lot park and cruise event beginning at 5 p.m. at Alcona Motors. Scully said individuals interested in joining that cruise can do so for free. He said they also can register for the car show the following day at the event for $15.

Scully said those who register by Friday can do so for $10. Information on registering can be found by calling him at 736-3252 or through email at chrisscully@yahoo.com

“I would like to get some antique snow mobiles as we have some local people who are into that,” he said.

According to Scully that is one of the reasons for changing the location of the car show to the fire hall to give it room to grow and to utilize the township building for the event instead of renting a tent.

He said he hopes the event, which is the largest fundraiser of the year for the club, will grow with the addition of snowmobiles.

“There are only three antique snowmobile shows in northern Michigan, and they are all held in January, so how many people could we draw when you don’t have to get out in the cold?” Scully said.

Scully said although people like to run snowmobiles in the winter he joked that he could not provide snow for the event. He said he wanted to get more people to the show to give the community more things to do.

“In the past you go to the car show, and when you’re done looking at the cars you usual get a bite to eat and go home,” he said. “I am hoping to expand it so when you get that bite to eat, you don’t go home.”
