NLA to host car show for 4th year

ALPENA — Northern Lights Arena is revving up preparations for the classic automobiles and hot rods that will be visiting Saturday. The show cars will be on display inside the arena and allow spectators to get a close up view.

Arena Manager Kelli Werda said this is the fourth year for the indoor auto show and it is becoming a staple event at NLA. She said the indoor format for the show follows a trend car enthusiasts have been enjoying around the country in similar arenas and venues.

“Invitations have been sent to numerous car clubs and classic car owners, with many of them planning to attend,” Werda said. “We have already received registrations from around the state of Michigan, including several from the Upper Peninsula.”

The car show is not limited to those who received invitations, Werda said. She said she would like to see as many vehicles as possible participate in the event and show off their rides. She said people who want to take part can do so by registering the day of the show beginning at 8 a.m. for $20. The auto show opens to the public at 10a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m.

“There will be numerous awards that will be awarded to the winners and there will also be raffles,” Werda said. “There will be open skating from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for $4 and it will be fun for the whole family.”

Werda said the concession stand will be open so people can grab a snack or refreshment while strolling though the cars on display or skating.
