Boldrey date to be set in March

ATLANTA — Circuit Court Judge Michael Mack expects the double homicide case of Kyle Boldrey to move forward this summer.

While a status conference set for Monday was adjourned, Mack specified he will set the trial date in March, which he expects would be in the summer months and most likely would be scheduled for the entire week.

The status conference was adjourned because there still has not been a date set for the forensic labs test and the prosecution is still waiting on DNA results to return.

Boldrey, whose last hearing was on Nov. 14, 2016, has been bound over to circuit court for a seven-count warrant that includes two counts of open murder. The case stems from an Aug. 27, 2016, event where it is alleged Boldrey took the lives of two people and severely assaulted two others while under the influence of synthetic drugs.

During the preliminary hearing in district court, one of Boldrey’s attorneys, Dan White, did not object to the counts being bound over to circuit court. Afterward White said the defense would not be attempting to challenge who committed the crimes but instead the motivation or lack thereof.

“It’s not a who done it case, but a why done it,” he said.

Boldrey is charged with two counts of open murder, two counts assault with intent to murder, one count of home invasion and two counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer.

He is being held at the Montmorency County Jail without bail.
