Monika Samela and Joshua Smith exchanged their wedding vows Sept. 24, 2016 at Castle Farms in Charlevoix. Pastor Brad Matuzak performed the 3 p.m. double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Milan and Jana Samela of Gaylord. The groom is the son of Tim and Barb Smith of Lachine.
Attending the bride as matron of honor was her friend, Aubrey Haskill. Bridesmaids included Rebecca Standen, Rachel Taylor, friends of the bride, and Courtney Hoover, sister of the groom. Mia Standen, Ella Standen and Kaelee Wcisel served as flower girls.
Attending the groom as best man was his friend, Kevin Richards. Groomsmen were Brent Wcisel, Ben Westrope, friend of the groom, and Jake Hoover, brother-in-law of the groom. Shiloh Haskill was the ring bearer. Serving as ushers were Dave Haskill, friend of the bride, and Aaron Christensen, cousin of the groom.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Castle Farms. A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s parents also was held at Castle Farms.
Monika is a 2000 graduate of Gaylord High School and is employed by the United States Postal Service. Joshua is a 2002 graduate of Alpena High School and a 2007 graduate of Ferris State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering. He is employed by Cooper Standard.
The couple is making their home in Gaylord.
