Alpena Garden Club held April 1 meeting
The Alpena Garden Club met on Monday, April 1, at the 19th Hole.
When president Kay Breckenridge made the announcement that a local state representative was inviting all members to a free trip to Washington, D.C., the enthusiasm was overwhelming! … Short-lived April Fools!
Serving on the committee were Linda Fogland, Patti Martinez, Suelyn Bartz and Diane Przeslawski.
The garden club members welcomed a new member, Susan Szczukowski, and Jeanette Vredenburg attended as a guest.
Przeslawski gave a five-minute talk on the value of epsom salts (magnesium) in the garden.
Bartz gave a presentation along with slides of a trip to Mackinac Island for the Grand Garden Show last August.
It was decided that the gardeners will take part in the Let’s Get Growing activity on April 20 at the Alpena Mall.
The meeting continued with discussion of many upcoming activities this summer.
The next meeting of the Alpena Garden Club will be on May 6.
