Carole & Company to perform Thursday
Educational and entertaining programs are happening at Alpena Senior Citizens Center this week, in addition to regular programming.
Today at 10:30 a.m., the center hosts Heart Healthy with MSU Extension’s Gretchen Stelter.
On Thursday, an evening of live music will feature Carole & Company. Dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m., and entertainment will be from 6 to 8 p.m. The dinner menu includes turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn and apple crisp. Suggested donation for those ages 60 and older is $3.50 per person. The cost is $7 for those younger than age 60.
On Tuesday, Doris Puls will lead “Organize & Make Things from Family Pictures.” Those who have boxes of photos at home will have a chance to organize and create mementos from those photos. Bring photos with you to this class. Call BJ at 989-356-3585 to reserve a spot.
Thursday, Feb. 14, is the kick-off day for Ken’s March Against Senior Hunger, which raises funds for the senior center’s meal program. Fundraising packets are available at the center during office hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The center is located at 501 River Street. For more information, call 989-356-3585, or go online to www.alpenaseniors.com.
The senior center aligns with Alpena Public Schools’ closings, so if school is canceled because of inclement weather, the senior center will be closed that day.
