MOC Auxiliary to visit Marquette vets on Tuesday
Alpena’s Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) and MOC Auxiliary will head to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette to take gifts and play bingo with the veterans housed there. The Auxiliary will also donate money for the resident ladies to have their hair done.
A regular meeting of the MOC Auxiliary was held Tuesday, Oct. 16, with six members and six guests in attendance. Fines were declared, minutes were read, the treasurer’s report was read, communications read and bills presented. There were no petitions for membership. VFW Auxiliary members in good standing are welcome to join the MOC Auxiliary. New members are needed.
The quarterly audit report was read by three-year Trustee Barb Mouthaan. The audit was performed prior to the regular meeting. Scholarship Chairman Barb LaMay read a letter from ACC thanking the Auxiliary for its donation to the scholarship fund.
For the year 2018-2019, the recipient of this scholarship was Breanna Wendt. Betty Olsen gave a report on the annual Scratch held in September. Donations from the MOC and the Friday bingo concession were presented. President Roxann Buchler reported giving 15 coloring books and crayons to the Grand of Michigan at the Scratch.
A donation will be made to the Sunrise Mission to provide meals for those in need.
A motion was made to pay bills and LaMay reminded everyone to get out and vote. Nothing further was brought up at this meeting, so Buchler declared the meeting adjourned. Next month’s meeting will be Nov. 20. All are welcome to attend.
Winners of the 50/50 drawing were Barb Mouthan and Patty Kucharek.
