Dragonfly Art Gallery to hold open house

HARRSIVILLE - Dragonfly Art Gallery in Harrisville will hold an open house Saturday from 1-3 p.m. for Isa Hastings, the gallery’s September Artist of the Month.

Hastings was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has traveled extensively around the world, and has tried a variety of art mediums, including batik with the natural dyes used on Persian rugs, oils, watercolors, pen and ink, pencils, screen printing, woodcarvings, woodburning, clay, alcohol inks and gourd carving/painting.

Hastings has taught batik, watercolor and oil painting while living overseas, as well as carving, woodburning and painting in United States. She has been back in the US since 1982.

She also was co-owner and operated the Old Sewing Center, Alpena Screen Art and Embroidery, Heated Mini Storage and Alpena Sign Shop.

Presently, she works out of the Alcona Sign Shop and Studio, where she uses her talent making carved and hand-painted signs, along with all the other items in the studio that she and her husband, Bill, do just for the fun of it.

The gallery is located at 116 E. Main Street.
