Thanks to the support from the Water Wonderland Board of Realtors, 72 youth at the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena received brand new backpacks filled with snacks and school supplies.

The Water Wonderland Board of Realtors consists of more 410 members and serves eight area counties – Alpena, Montmorency, Alcona, Presque Isle, Cheboygan, Otsego, Crawford and Oscoda. These members include realtors, appraisers, title companies and financial institutions.

All areas made a backpack donation to help impact the youth and help get the school year started off right. This is the third the group has been able to provide youth with this opportunity to start the school year and alleviate the pressure put on parents.

“It’s so amazing to see a large group from all over come together and make an extremely impactful donation that will help so many youth,” said Bradley Somers, Boys and Girls Club of Alpena executive director. “We cannot thank everyone involved enough for their contributions and thinking about the kids and their preparations for the school year.”

Jeannie Rizzardi, executive director of the Water Wonderland Board of Realtors, is the catalyst to making all of this happen. She drives to each location and logs a lot of hours to pick up and deliver the donations.

“Jeannie’s time and efforts with the addition of each institution’s generosity makes a huge difference in the lives of each and every youth receiving a backpack full of supplies and snacks and the elated looks on their faces is priceless,” Somers said.
