Dragonfly Art Gallery names Artist of the Month

HARRISVILLE – Dragonfly Art Gallery in Harrisville announces Peggy Little as its Artist of the Month for August. A public reception in her honor will be held at the gallery, located at 116 E. Main, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday.

Little specializes in paintings of acrylic and batik with watercolor. She is inspired by the world around her, and she paints to express her enjoyment of nature. Several of her pictures are from photos she has taken while kayaking around the area.

Little resides in Oscoda since retiring in 2006 from teaching elementary school in Rogers City. She has always loved art, beginning with her first blue ribbon in sixth grade. She went on to take art classes in high school and college, but life got in the way.

Now that she has time to pursue her love of painting, she takes advantage of classes and workshops whenever she can to learn, explore and try new techniques.

Little’s work has been accepted in several juried shows in Tawas at the Besser Museum and at Art in the Loft. It is currently on display at the Dragonfly Art Gallery, Art in the Loft, and other galleries and shops in the area. She is currently a member of the Northeast Michigan Art Guild.

Saturday’s open house is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
