Three published authors to visit Olivet Book & Gift

Three published authors will do book signings Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Olivet Book & Gift in Alpena.

The trio includes Pegg Thomas, who lives on a local hobby farm with her husband, Michael. They raise sheep and chickens, keep a few barns cats and their dog Murphy, who Thomas calls spoiled rotten.

A life-long history geek, Thomas writes “history with a touch of humor.” She is published in the Barbour historical romance collections. She also works as managing editor of Smitten Historical Romance, an imprint of Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas.

When not working or writing, Thomas can be found in her barn, her garden, her kitchen or sitting at her spinning wheel creating yarn to turn into her signature wool shawls.

ECPA bestselling author Amanda Barratt fell in love with writing in grade school when she wrote her first story – a spinoff of Jane Eyre. Now, Barratt writes romantic historical novels and novellas, penning stories of beauty and brokenness, set against the backdrop of bygone eras not so very different from today.

Barratt’s novella, “The Truest Heart,” finaled in the 2017 FHL Reader’s Choice Awards. She lives in the woods of Michigan with her family, who kindly put up with the invisible people she calls characters.

Carrie Fancett Pagels, Ph.D., is an ECPA bestselling and award-winning author. Possessed with an overactive imagination that wasn’t “cured” by 25 years as a psychologist, Fancett loves bringing characters to life.

Pagels and her family reside in Virginia’s Historic Triangle, which is perfect for her fascination with history. She enjoys reading, traveling, baking and beading – but not all at the same time.
