Six flutists to perform at Lost Lake Woods Club

The clubhouse at Lost Lake Woods in Lincoln will host “Highfalutin’ Christmas,” a performance Saturday by an adult flute ensemble consisting of flutists from Alcona and Alpena counties. The six members will perform new and unique arrangements of familiar Christmas music for the public, beginning at 6 p.m.

The ensemble includes flutists Susan Asher, Judith Case, Claire Duncan, MaryAnn Hubbard, Lois Marshall and Joanne Root. All players perform regularly in the Northeast Michigan area.

Their credits include Alpena Symphony Orchestra, Wind Song Flute Quartet, Flute and Friends recital series, Besser Chorus, Flutastic!, area churches and numerous other venues in the area.

Saturday’s performance will cap off a day of holiday traditions and celebrations at Lost Lake Woods Club.

The public is invited as well as the residents of the club to attend the concert.

Included in the performance will be several medleys of familiar holiday songs. Also included will be “What Child Is This?,” a duet featuring Marshall and Hubbard; “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” featuring Root on the alto flute; “Gesu Bambino;” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman,” featuring Case; “I Wonder As I Wander” and “Coventry Carol.”

There is no admission charge for this hour-long performance.
