Alpena Garden Club brings cheer to safehouse residents

Members of Alpena Garden Club gathered donations of essential supplies including hygiene and paper products, diapers, clothing, canned food items, and linens for residents of the Hope Shores Alliance safehouse this holiday.

They even thought of Christmas greeting cards and stamps, as well as homemade holiday cookie mix in Mason jars for the women and children in residence.

Hope Shores Alliance works with survivors of domestic and sexual violence and stalking, providing safe spaces for them to heal and be heard.

The organization services Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, Presque Isle and Iosco counties. People who are interested in volunteering for the agency should contact Shirley Diemond at 356-6265.
