Lions Club hears about Hunters Harvest for Charity

Mark Boyk, president of Hunters Harvest for Charity, was the speaker at the recent meeting of the Alpena Lions Club. He reviewed for the Lions the history and details of the stag dinner, which is a fundraiser event. In 2016, it provided funds totaling over $67,000 to 20 agencies which provide food and services to the needy. Program chair for the meeting was Vice President Arielle Jasmin.

Boyk reported that Hunters Harvest was now in its 38th year. The group has been a Section 501(c)(3) agency since 2000. Its fundraising dinner normally takes place the last Friday in January at the APlex. Those who attend have a passion for helping people. The dinner, featuring great food, consists of lots of wild game to eat, supplemented by some commercial food. About 550 dinner tickets are sold. Other fundraising is accomplished by having a live auction and some raffles.

Boyk urged all Lions, if they know someone who is needy, have them contact Boyk at 354-5235.
