Alpena Ladies Eagles Auxiliary celebrates 67th anniversary
Alpena Ladies Eagles Auxiliary #1241 met Oct. 24 to celebrate its 67th anniversary and honor charter members and past presidents.
A potluck took place first, with the regular meeting following. Presiding was President Diane Struzik.
Past presidents in attendance were: Pat LaHaie, 61 years as a member; Diane Struzik, 52 years; and Mary Zawacki, 25 years. They were honored with a cake and each made a wish as they blew out candles on the cake that was shared by all in attendance.
It was announced the next District meeting was set for Nov. 5. The next regular meeting will be held Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. A list is at the aerie for any auxiliary members who wish to attend the Christmas dinner on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. Those planning to attend must sign up before Dec. 9.
Nancy Green won the dues, but she was not present to accept them. Struzik and Gere Romel won the mystery prizes. Diane Marchlewski and Ruth Werda won the door prizes.
Struzik read a poem entitled, “Beautiful Words.”
