Habitat for Humanity seeks home applicants

Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan is seeking applicants for homes in Alpena and Alcona counties. The deadline for submitting a homeowner application is Dec. 31.

The selection of a new homeowner/partner is based upon need, willingness to partner in the Habitat program (sweat equity hours) and the ability to make monthly mortgage payments.

Habitat’s mission is to offer access to affordable homes for qualified families in need. Once the house is ready for occupancy and the family has completed their sweat equity and homeownership and finance classes, the home is sold to the family. This is only possible because of the sweat equity of the family and friends, hours of volunteer labor, and tax-deductible donations of materials and money.

Applications can be printed from the Habitat website, www.habitatnemi.org or a copy picked up at the Habitat office. The office is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and located at 1600 W. Chisholm at First Presbyterian Church or call 354-5555.
