Pack 3076 of Rogers City held an Arrow of Light on May 15, during which three boys crossed from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts joining Troop 6 of Rogers City. The ceremony was performed by outgoing Cub Master Eric Muller and incoming Cub Master Michael Porter.

The boys were recognized for their achievements for the past eight months. They included Connor Muller, who joined in 2012; Freddie Lopez, who joined in 2013; and Landyn Mertz, who joined in 2016. The boys were given plaques handmade by their leader, Rosalie Pettit.

Their arrows hold a pouch of three items: dirt to remind them of where they come from – their parents who give them love, wisdom and knowledge. The second item is a mixture of herbs and spices to remind them of the power they hold within themselves to use their intelligence and to help others by using their good judgment and common sense.

The third item is a feather to symbolize an eagle’s feather as a reminder that they have the freedom to choose goals in their life and pursue them with the eagle’s courage.

During the ceremony, these three boys formed a circle of rope tied together as a brotherhood bond shared in scouting. They invited the first Webelos den into the center of the circle in which they entrusted them to continue their journey and to be a shining example.

Connor Muller then presented Matthew Papke with a plaque of the Arrow of Light to be displayed at their meetings as a reminder to the boys to continue to be a shining light throughout their journey and to be passed down in years to come.
