Natalie Goff to compete for state Outstanding Teen title
Natalie Goff, Miss Huron Shores Outstanding Teen 2016, is headed to Muskegon to compete for the title of Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen 2017. She is the daughter of Ray and Bonnie Goff.
In August 2016, Goff competed in the regional Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant. Not only did she win the crown, but she also earned the Spirit Award, voted on by other contestants, and the Talent Award.
Goff will arrive June 10 to enjoy a weekend of rehearsals with other contestants as well as make appearances with the current Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen, Kendra Lodewyk, and the other contestants. Goff will compete in five categories: interview, active wear, on-stage question, evening gown and talent. For her talent, she will vocally perform “The Via Dolorosa” on preliminary night, June 13.
If Goff is places in the top 12 she will repeat all phases of competition except the interview on June 14. The winner will be crowned following the final 12 performances. Two out of the 12 contestants will be chosen via People’s Choice for the first time ever.
The public can vote for Goff by visiting Missmichigan.org, accessing the Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen Contestants People’s Choice and donating $5 per vote.
Goff just completed her junior year at Alpena High School and plans to pursue a medical degree in oncology. Through her crown she has completed 189 hours of volunteering in the local community and Northern Michigan.
Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen is a preliminary to Miss America’s Outstanding Teen held in Florida in mid-July. It provides over $33,000 in scholarships for young women, acting as the leading scholarship provider for teen girls in the nation.
These scholarships will help Goff pursue her academic dreams as well as provide opportunities to gain life skills such as interviewing and public speaking. Out of 25 contestants, Goff will be contestant number five while representing the area.
The Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen crown stands for four characteristics: scholarship, service, success and style. Judges will be analyzing contestants on these necessities while they work through each phase of competition.
To send Goff well wishes on her endeavors, mail can be sent to Natalie Goff, Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen Contestant #5, Holiday Inn Muskegon-Harbor 939 Third Street, Muskegon, MI 49440.
