Kiwanis Club announces police academy program
Alpena Kiwanis Club is currently seeking applicants for the Michigan State Police – Kiwanis Law Enforcement Career Academy. The academy is scheduled for July 16-21 at the Michigan State Police Training Academy, 7426 Canal Rd., Lansing.
This academy is jointly sponsored by the Michigan District of Kiwanis and the Michigan Department of State Police. It is for students who show an expressed interest in a possible law related career.
To be eligible the student must be currently enrolled in grades 10, 11 or 12, male or female, good moral character, in good health, no juvenile offense record or criminal record and is in good academic standing.
Participants to the academy will be exposed to influences they can use throughout their life. Students participate in a week-long tightly controlled schedule from 5:30 a.m.-10 p.m. covering introduction to state and local law enforcement, physical fitness, leadership development, science and patrol training.

Come join in the fun and get involved in the community by joining the group on Mondays at the Ramada Inn at noon for lunch or “Koffee with Kiwanis” at 7 a.m. on Thursdays at Gen-Ar’s.
