Besser Male Chorus to give Christmas concert
The Besser Male Chorus will present its annual Christmas concert Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Alpena.
Berniece “Bunny” Lyon will direct the chorus with Suelyn Bartz as piano accompanist and MaryAnn Hubbard on flute.
The concert will feature mostly Christmas music with songs such as “At Christmas Time,” “Come to the Stable with Jesus,” “Silver Bells” and “Silent Night.”
A trio, composed of first tenor John Knapp, second tenor David Usher and bass Eldon Grabow will perform “Carol of Winter Peace” and “Rise up Shepherd and Follow.”
Suelyn Bartz and MaryAnn Hubbard will combine piano and flute for “O Holy Night.” They also will play a piano duet of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.”
The chose will be performing at Ossineke United Methodist church on Dec. 11 and New Beginnings Ministries in Hillman on Dec. 18.
Twenty-seven members currently make up the Besser Male Chorus, which has been in existence for 70 years. The chorus also is looking for new members who like to sing. They range in ages from 18 to over 81, which means everyone is welcome. The being rehearsing weekly in September for the Christmas concert.
Admission to the concert is by free will donation.
